Here Comes the Sun
In college, something wonderful happens: Summer starts in May. It's hard to believe I've already been on break for 3 weeks, but I wouldn't change a thing. I've spent the month of May taking advantage of the nice weather Minnesota is [finally] having, and exploring my favorite parts of the city. If you live in the area and you're looking for something new to do, read on to learn what I've been up to lately.
View the city from a rooftop.
My new favorite place to spend time is on top of my boyfriend's apartment building, overlooking the Minneapolis skyline with a book in one hand and a margarita in the other. I love taking advantage of the nice weather, and the closer I am to the sun, the better.
Visit St. Anthony-Main Theater.
St. Anthony-Main's theater is on the oldest street in Minneapolis, and is one of the cheapest movie theaters around! It's only $6 a ticket, and their popcorn is unbeatable. I love the lights and traditional marquee at night.
Go for a walk.
Lately, the weekends have been gorgeous. In order to stay active, I've been going on a lot of walks. I love starting near the Stone Arch Bridge and finding different trails throughout the city. I love Minneapolis because after walking for only 10 minutes, I'm surrounded by water and trees, and I no longer feel like I'm in the city.
Take a trip down memory lane.
My entire family is from Fargo, ND. My parents grew up, went to college, got engaged, got married, and bought their first house in Fargo. My grandparents and aunts, uncles, and cousins still live in Fargo, so it's always fun for me to visit. I had a great time exploring downtown with my family last weekend, and my parents surprised me with their willingness to take me to an old bar they used to frequent in college.
Visit Jefe on historic Main Street.
Three of my favorite things–St. Anthony-Main, Aster Cafe, and burritos–combined this summer and brought us the new restaurant, Jefe. I tried it for the first time yesterday with a few friends and it's definitely worth a trip. They have delicious food, great drinks, and a beautiful view. It might be my new favorite spot.
